We’re taught in school that A+B=C, and if you always want to get to C, you must always combine A and B. This linear, immediate-results driven way of thinking has lead to some of today’s major players. You find a really big way to tell people WHO you are, then you get people INSIDE your store, and BOOM! They’re gonna BUY something! Today, that strategy often looks like promoting your WEBSITE, getting people TO your site, and BAM! They’re gonna buy something.
But just like everyone had storefronts back in the day, everyone has websites now. It’s the ultimate legitimization of your existence. So I say that to say…so what, ya got a website- good for you. You don’t get my cash because you have a website. Sorry, not sorry.
Today’s consumer takes more coaxing.
Today’s consumer (for my nonprofit friends, today’s DONOR), is pumped full of information—and honestly, having a website just doesn’t cut it. Web Traffic is asking themselves, WHO ARE YOU? Why should I choose you over everyone? Everyone is saving children, why should you get my DONATION?
The questions YOU should be asking is—HOW AM I GOING TO CONVERT LEADS INTO CUSTOMERS (DONORS)? And the answer is BUILD A RELATIONSHIP WITH THEM!
One of the buzz phrases of the marketing world right now is “lead generation.” The purpose of establishing a lead generation is CONVERSION. So as you establish your user experience, it is important to be thinking about YOUR USER (I know, duh).
What are ways you can establish a RELATIONSHIP with your website traffic?

By immediately implementing these strategies you can begin to convert all of your amazing web traffic into customers by BUILDING A RELATIONSHIP! It’s the sub-clause of the equation no one tells you about, and it’s the BEST way to get to “C.” As a small business/nonprofit, your focus has to be equally about serving your customers as it is about providing quality products and services.
“To give real service, you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money, and that is sincerity and integrity.” – Douglas Adams
