Top 5 Ways to Boost Your Online Presence [Part II]

by Alyx Holder

With access to thousands of people through multiple social media platforms, connecting with people has never been easier. However, in order to efficiently improve your online status, Top 5 Ways to Boost Your Online Presence Part I, explained that posts should be uploaded consistently and content needs to cater to the customer or industry related business. Part II provides the last three points on how to boost your online presence.

Calls to Action and Engagement Posts

One key component to high-quality content that drives organic traffic is the call to action. As the name suggests, calls to action ask the reader to perform some kind of task, such as calling a phone number, liking or commenting on a post, or participating in a poll. Using well-placed calls to action throughout your content and in social media posts helps to boost your online engagement and visibility.

Engagement posts don’t have to be complicated. Some simple questions you can try include:

• Opinions: ask about your customers’ favorite menu item, what kind of new fitness classes they want at the gym, or other business-related questions to help them feel involved and heard.

• Polls: similar to the open-ended question option, polls make collecting data simple and easy to comprehend.

• Q&As: build trust through transparency by giving your audience a chance to ask the questions they most want answered.

• Contests: online contests are great ways to increase engagement and drive general traffic. Keep the rules simple, but specific enough to avoid wasting resources.

Evergreen Content

There may not always be something new and trending to drive your content. Relying on trending topics to drive your digital marketing efforts is a major mistake.  Instead, evergreen content should be the cornerstone of your website. Evergreen content refers to pages, blogs, and other posts that are constantly relevant, informative, and search optimized to help drive traffic to your website. Often, evergreen content answers common questions such as defining industry terms, outlining services, or provide other educational information.

The core pages of your website should all be evergreen content. These pages should establish your business as reputable and well-informed about the ins and outs of your industry. Typically, the core pages of your website cover services and products, mission statements, and team biographies, if applicable.

Other evergreen pages that can boost your online presence may cover commonly searched terms related to your industry. A pest control company may include an evergreen content page about common summer pests, for example.

Search engine optimized evergreen content can provide steady traffic and visibility for your website.

Google regularly crawls websites in order to match the right content with user inquiries. If it determines your content is the best fit for a query, Google will increase your ranking in search results, leading to more clicks and greater conversions. Be sure to regularly review and update your evergreen pages for optimal results.

Respond to Trending Topics

While evergreen can help support steady traffic to your website, trending topics are a great opportunity to give your online presence a boost. Responding to relevant trends on social media can increase your company’s visibility if done correctly. It’s important to be careful when using trending news and topics in digital marketing. Be tactful and tactical when choosing what topics to reply to and how you craft your message. More personal and personable brands may be able to get away with posting a video for the latest Tik Tok dance challenge, but that kind of trend following may not work for everyone.

Industry-related news such as changes in relevant policies and new technological advancements are a great way to build your authority and get ahead of competitors.

Set up Google alerts for specific key terms related to your industry to make sure you're always in the know.

Regularly recurring trending hashtags like #MotivationMonday and #ThrowbackThursday can also be useful, but may not provide quite the same lift.

While there may be millions of posts using these hashtags, it’s likely your posts will just get lost in the fray. However, there is a way to make these work for you as well. For example, gyms, cosmetic surgery facilities, addiction treatment centers, and other businesses have taken advantage of the #TransformationTuesday tag to show client progress.
